Wedding weekend in Houston

We brought Will to the rehersal dinner and thankfully, he was angel all night.

We had a successful trip to Houston this weekend with the kids -- they both did well in the car -- they didn't sleep much, but at least they stayed pretty happy. It was also our first trip to take since Aubrey's been potty trained and that went fine, too. We only had to stop once each way for a potty break. We hadn't been to Houston since New Years, so it was great to visit Robert's family. Robert's parents babysat Aubrey 2 nights and Will had his first babysitters on Saturday night while we went to a wedding. A friend of Robert's that he has known since 2nd grade got married and he got to catch up with lots of old friends.

This is the latest strange creature we've spotted in our yard... This thing is at least 6 inches long and has made one of our plants its home for the last week -- yuck!

Will (3 mos.) and Emily (7 mos.) -- Notice their similarity in size eventhough Will is 4 months younger! Emily's older sister, Kate, is just about a week older than Aubrey and we have been getting together with them since Kate & Aubrey were 2.5 months old. They came over today to play and brought us lunch and we had a great time catching up!

Yankee Doodle

Aubrey was singing Yankee Doodle while she was playing in the living room. Then, she ran in her room and got a hat out of her dress-up box, ran back into the living room and hopped on her rocking horse and started singing: "There was a funny little girl riding on a pony, stuck a feather in this hat and called it maccaroni"

Yesterday I set Will down on a blanket (on his back) while I ran in the other room to swiffer-dust the plantation shutters... This is how I found him when I came back in the room --- on his tummy! He's done it several more times today and now easily can get his arm out. He also started laughing last week when I tickled him and he now likes to grab and play with his toes, too! He's such a cutie and we love him more each day!

Fun with Friends

Today we had some special visitors -- one of my best friends from high school and her family, who drove from Utah all the way to Texas! They were passing through Austin after going to Sea World in San Antonio & dropped by for a couple hours. The kids played outside & upstairs, ate a snack and Aubrey & Daphne (or "daph-a-nee" as Aubrey likes to say it) especially enjoyed rocking together on the rocking horse. The last time the girls had seen eachother was at our other friend Carole's wedding when Aubrey was 2.5 months and Daphne was about 8 months. I also really enjoyed getting to catch up with Laura and introducing our sweet baby Will to her.

I took Aubrey to get her first haircut tonight. I attempted to cut it myself back in February, but other than that, this is her first cut in two and a half years. She did really well. I brought along a lollypop to keep her occupied and it worked pretty well. I just had about 2 inches cut off, so it is still long enough to put in a ponytail, pig tails, etc. We just went to a random place that is close to our house and thankfully we got a nice lady who was good with kids. Otherwise, it may have not been such a good experience.

Since I posted pictures of Aubrey along with Will's 2 month stats, here are a few of Will in the last couple days.

A funny quote from Aubrey today: We made M&M cookies this morning and then this afternoon out of nowhere she said, "Did you hear something?" I said, "No, did you?" and she answered, "I heard a cookie saying 'come eat me' " A pretty creative way to ask for a cookie!

Will's 2 month stats

We went to Will's 2 month well -check on Friday ( a week late b/c we were out of town) His appt. included 5 vaccines (no fun!) -- I didn't think I would cry this time around, but I did. Thankfully, he didn't have any fever or reaction to them. He seems very healthy and continues to grow... He was in the 90% for his head, height(24 1/4 inches) and weight (13 ils. 15 oz)! He is bigger at 2 months than Aubrey was at 4 months. We are doing well and enjoying interacting with him more and more -- he loves to smile and coo anytime he's awake. And in case you're interested, Aubrey is 28.5 lbs. and 37 inches tall(over 3 feet now!) at 2 1/2. She still seems very tall -- as tall as most 3 and some 4 year olds we know. Robert and I don't know where these big babies and tall children came from... Anyway, my digital camera batteries are charging right now, but I will post some new pics soon. But, here are a couple cute ones of Aubrey and our neighbor, Ryan, at our July 4th block party...

We had a blast with the Connells & Pavys this weekend at the beach. We carefully planned this trip between the arrival of Will and the upcoming arrival of the Pavy's daughter in August and the Connell's daughter in October. We had a little rain, but mostly it was just a little cloudy, which was actually pretty nice -- not too hot and no sunburns. The kids all had fun playing together at the house and in the water -- Aubrey said, "I want to stay here forever!"
